Economics is my passion, particularly the economics of currency markets. I am now applying that enthusiasm towards informing exporters, importers, investors and simply those fascinated with currency of the driving forces in foreign exchange markets.
This applies a deep understanding of the relationship between global events and the local economy. It applies an up-to-the-date insight into the thinking of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.
My knowledge in these areas is grounded in 16 years as economist for ASB, including 5 years as Chief Economist, and in earlier experience in the futures industry.
My formal training was in economics and statistics, culminating in degrees from Waikato, Massey and Auckland universities, including a Master of Commerce Degree from Auckland.
I am a committee member of the NZ Association of Economists and a director and trustee of various entities.
On a personal level, Taupo remains home, where Tracey and my 8 year-old son Fergus are thriving in such an invigorating environment.
I have an extensive record of public speaking and am widely reported in the media, including recently:.
- Radio NZ Oct 17, 2008: Comments on global crisis impact on NZ Audio
- Dominion Jul 8, 2008: Spending curtailed Quotes
- NZ Herald Jun 6, 2006: Productivity key to growth needed to boost economy Article
